At the tender age of 17, Givenchy left his home in Beauvais to go to Paris and pursue a career in fashion design
While working with high profile fashion designers of the time (Jacques Fath and Robert Piguet), Givenchy gained the knowledge he needed to make it in the industry
Givenchy is best known for his baby doll collection released in 1958
The critics loved this collection and his career really began to take flight in the early 60’s
In 1968, Givenchy released his first high-end, ready-to-wear collection which was a huge stepping stone in defining his own style
His success continued to rise over the next couple of decades
Givenchy received some of the most coveted fashion awards and won the award for "Personality of the Year" in 1979
His signature style is the result of years of hard work and dedication
His sophisticated, yet modern approach to fashion design has earned him a permanent seat as an icon in the fashion industry
