His childhood was spent learning about the family business of making beautifully crafted bag(his parents are the founders of the brand Bottega Veneta).
From the age of fourteen, summer holidays were spent in the factory, learning the craft, which included everything from packing boxes and quality control to finally being allowed to cut leather.
Having graduated with an art history degree from NYU and a master's in communications from Emerson College, Gabrielecorto Moltedo set up a studio in the Veneto region and began to design bags under the label Corto Moltedo.
He designs from his base in Paris and the studio in the Venetian countryside.
Moltedo has a unique approach to designing bags.
He designs clothes as a backdrop to his bag collection in order to create a complete universe, allowing the bags and his philosophy of modern aggressive glamour and fun combined with craftsmanship to be better understood.
