THE GIGI CLOTHING
- Materials: Cotton
Pierluigi was born in 1957 in a family of tailors, and he grew up among jackets, suits and fabrics. His father and his eldest brother Mario founded the Boglioli factory in 1972.
At the age of 18, Gigi started his career in the family shops as a salesman, but soon his passion for research, creativity and style led him to join Boglioli creative team.
In 1990, Pierluigi intuitively understood the need of a change in the conservative tailoring by deconstructing the jackets and presenting garments without canvas, shoulder paddings, roll paddings and linings.
Then in 1999, he came up with the idea of garment dyeing tailored jackets, even if they were made of pure and very expensive cashmere. The TINTO IN CAPO jackets were invented making an important breakthrough in the menswear panorama.
Gigi is proud of what was done in the past, but he believes that today is necessary to look ahead. His motto “DON’T LOOK BACK” is stitched into each of his designs.
He would like to be known as the one that is able of catching the needs of changing times, being once again, one-step ahead.
This is THE GIGI’s challenge.
New ideas surround us everywhere, yet keen instincts are required to understand them and capture their essence.
We are curious, passionate, attentive and naturally love to seek out new things, without ever falling head over heels over them.
We’ve always believed that our goal is to shy away from the concept of pervasive conformity, preferring instead to look beyond the horizon.
We don’t just make jackets, that would be boring…. what is really exciting is conferring a real soul to them, allowing a certain level of freedom and style to be expressed.
This desire to present our way of thinking has pushed us to take on a new direction. This foresees the creation of a collection, where the level of research is based on our mission, rather than a diktat often imposed by the marketplace.
This coming January, we would be honored to share our enthusiasm in this new project with you.
